A week of highs and lows

Our family has experienced quite an eventful week, consisting of both highs and lows.  We are so thankful that many of you check this blog and keep us in constant prayer, so here is a brief update:

Highs: This week Dave was able to lead a few staff meetings and it is always great to see him “in the zone.”  Last Saturday he was able to teach at a small group leadership event called Leader’s Edge.  Not only was his content profound as always, he carried good energy on stage and seemed very strong. The most incredible high of our week was that Dave stood for the first time in 7 months during physical therapy at Casa Colina.  They gave him support so that his knees wouldn’t buckle and railings to hold on to, but he was standing and bearing all of his weight on his own.  We didn’t know if it would be possible, but it happened!

Lows: Unfortunately Dave woke up on Friday morning with a fever. By the time we got to the hospital it was 102.6. Scary. The fever has been bouncing around a lot, but they now have him on antibiotics and we expect him to be able to go home in a few days. It’s frustrating as you can imagine, but it could be a lot worse.  We are doing our very best to hold a positive attitude and lean into God during these lows. Please pray this passes quickly and he can get back to doing the things he wants to be able to do.

One of the most frustrating parts for Dave is that he will not be able to teach live at Inland Hills tomorrow.  He loves it when he can teach live! However, he did film a back-up video message earlier this week and we will be playing that tomorrow.  You don’t want to miss it.

There is a great Bible verse I read this week that reminded me to be hopeful, patient, and faithful through the highs and the lows. Who knows, maybe this verse is the exact reminder you need in life for whatever you are facing right now. I hope that it helps…

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
